About Me

Hey everybody, I'm Pete and this is my page.  I recently graduated from  the United States Air Force Academy, and got a BS in Mechanical Engineering.  I declared this major out of a love of machinery, but I really had my hands full with school.  It paid off though because I love my job now and waiting to go to pilot training is a great feeling.  I finally have time too now to work on my 1997 XR7 Sport.  The only thing that I have completely done so far is the stereo, but major engine  mods are almost complete.

I came across the car in August of 2002 with only 27,000 on the odometer and I couldn't pass it up.  This is the second MN-12 that I have owned, the first being a pearlized white 95, currently being driven by my brother.  We are hooked on MN-12's and are currently modding ours.  He recently got some 3.55 gears, a chip from Fordchip.com , March power pullies, removed air silencer, and installed a B&M trans cooler.  Those modifications to his car really woke it up and knocked almost a full second off his 0-60 time, making it 6.8 seconds now.  Faster times would be possible, but the tires just spin if you launch it harder.

I decided to put the AED and forged shorblock on hold for the time being.  Instead I decided to go with a naturally aspirated setup by running a Big Bore from Modular Performance.  This combo will come loaded with forged pistons and rods, cast crank, and a displacement of 305 cubic inches.  Typically, these engine maintain the same shape dyno curves, just moved up anywhere from 40 to 60 rwhp and ftlbs at the wheels.  This option will leave me with room to grow with a SC later, and will make for a killer sleeper at present.  The Big Bore should be completed in the next few months..

Did I mention that we hate rice?
